How Ionizers Work:

 First developed in Japan in the 1950s, water ionizers turn ordinary tap water into ionized, alkaline water by delivering a strong electrical current to the water. This process, known as electrolysis, separates the water into two streams: alkaline mineral water for drinking and acidic mineral water for the skin, and for cleaning and sanitizing. The process also breaks large clusters of water molecules into "micro-clusters" that are readily absorbed by tissues and cells, leading to better hydration at the cellular level.

Why Hydrate with Alkaline Water

 Hydrated cells are healthy cells - A well-hydrated cell absorbs oxygen and nutrients and disposes of toxins and waste efficiently.  Dehydrated cells are inefficient cells.  Unfortunately, thirst is not an accurate guide to the body's hydration levels.  By the time you are thirsty, you already are dehydrated. You should drink a number of fluid ounces equal to one half your body weight.  For example, a 200-pound man should drink 100 ounces (about 13 cups) per day.

Today's common diet, which is rich in protein from meat, dairy products, processed grains, and soda beverages have been shown to create what is called metabolic acidosis. A build up of Acid in the body is related to many common disease processes affecting Americans today.  Among these are:  Acid reflux, high cholesterol, heart disease, obesity, allergies, lowered immunity, fibromyalgia, gout, psoriasis, and even strokes related to low-grade metabolic acidosis.

 pH Balance In The Body

The intake of acidic drinks along with the acidic foods in the modern diet cause the body to work overtime to maintain the blood pH within the health range. To do so, the body will take alkaline substances from body parts, such as bone and muscle tissue. This leads to such disease processes as osteoporosis, osteopenia, restless leg syndrome, chronic muscle diseases such as fibromyalgia and chronic muscle spasms. By drinking alkaline water, a person is able to reduce the intake of acids and increase the availability of alkaline minerals, helping the body regulate its pH in a healthier way.

 What's Wrong with Drinking Cokes, Coffee's & Tea... 

A 2008 study at Purdue University found that rats on diets containing the artificial sweeteners including saccharin gained more weight than rats given sugary food,  perhaps because the body does not receive a signal to "rev up" the metabolism or develop fullness.  An eight-year study with 1,550 participants conducted at University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, found that drinkers of diet soft drinks had a greater risk of gaining weight than drinkers of regular soft drinks.  Diet Coke has a pH level of 2.97, more than 10,000 times more acidic than pH neutral water.

Energy Drinks?

Americans are spending billions of dollars each year on beverages that may provide a short-term boost but also increase the likelihood of gaining weight and increasing acidity in the body. A better solution is to hydrate frequently with ionized alkaline drinking water, which hydrates better than diet soda and energy drinks.
